Pediatrician with Passion for Rural Medicine Joins Choptank Health's Community Care Team
For parents and guardians, a child's healthcare needs rarely fit neatly into a single appointment or office visit.Dr. Raquel Millet has joined Choptank Community Health System as a pediatrician and is seeing patients at the Denton Health Center. She brings a passion for rural, community-centered care to Choptank Health's pediatric and family medicine team.
A routine well-child visit may lead to behavioral health support. A school nurse may connect a student with medical care. A nutrition concern may require counseling. Families want to know their children can receive exceptional care close to home, no matter what challenges arise.
That vision continues to guide Choptank Community Health System's commitment to providing comprehensive care across Maryland's Mid-Shore by welcoming providers who share a passion for community health, rural medicine, and coordinated services that support children and families close to home.
Through pediatric medicine, family medicine, behavioral health, nutrition services, and School-Based Health Centers, Choptank Health offers a coordinated care network that supports patients and families throughout the region.
The addition of Dr. Raquel Millet, who is serving patients at the Denton Health Center reflects that mission and strengthens an established team of pediatric and family medicine physicians and advanced practice providers.
“Every child deserves exceptional healthcare close to home,” said Sara Rich, President and CEO of Choptank Community Health System. “Providers who are passionate about community health and rural medicine are essential to serving our Mid-Shore communities. Dr. Millet's arrival adds to a well-established team dedicated to high-quality, compassionate care for children and families.”
Board-certified in pediatrics and fellowship-trained in Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Johns Hopkins Children's Center, Dr. Millet brings a strong commitment to community-centered care and rural medicine, along with a focus on helping families access coordinated healthcare close to home.
“What drew me to Choptank Health was its deep connection to the communities it serves,” Dr. Millet said. “Rural medicine offers the opportunity to build relationships with families, understand their needs, and work alongside pediatricians, family medicine providers, behavioral health providers, nutrition professionals, and school-based teams to deliver care that is personal and coordinated.”
Beyond its medical practices, Choptank Health continues to provide integrated pediatric care through School-Based Health Centers serving students throughout Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne's, and Talbot counties.
“Our goal is to remove barriers before they become obstacles,” said Choptank Health Director of Community-Based Programs Chrissy Bartz. “Whether a child needs medical care, behavioral health support, nutrition counseling, or follow-up care, we work together to ensure families have access to coordinated services.”
Choptank Health Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer Megan Wojtko said collaboration remains central to the rural health system's pediatric care model.
“When providers communicate and work together, families spend less time navigating the healthcare system and more time focusing on their children,” Wojtko said. “That coordinated approach is at the heart of rural healthcare and helps give families confidence they can find access to compassionate, comprehensive care.”
As Choptank Health continues investing in coordinated pediatric care throughout the Mid-Shore, organizational leaders say every effort supports one long-term goal: ensuring every child has access to high-quality, compassionate, and coordinated care.
