Choptank Health offers women’s health and prenatal care

Women’s health and prenatal services are available to all Choptank Health patients at Easton Health Center, Fassett Magee Medical Center in Cambridge, and the Federalsburg Medical Center. Women’s health services are also provided to patients in Caroline and Kent counties, with prenatal health services to be added soon.

“Choptank Health is continually looking to match our services to the healthcare needs of people living on Maryland’s Mid-Shore,” said Choptank Health CEO Sara Rich. “Adding prenatal care to our women’s health services further expands access to the integrated and comprehensive services that Choptank Health offers.”

Services include well-women exams for cervical cancer and breast cancer screenings, prenatal counseling and treatment, gynecology/pelvic exams, STI screenings, contraceptive counseling, IUD and Nexplanon placement, menopause counseling, and more.

“Women’s health has always been a part of Choptank Health’s comprehensive primary care, and increasing access to these vital services will improve patient outcomes and help reduce disparities,” says Choptank Community Health Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer Megan Wojtko, DNP, MBA, CRNP. “We provide a safe and familiar place for patients to discuss their concerns and receive education and counseling on various women’s health topics.

“Being able to expand services and offer high-quality prenatal care within our health centers is a win for our patients and the community, says Wojtko. “Our experienced providers can safely care for low-risk expectant mothers right up until delivery, and coordinate patient care with the labor and delivery team in the hospital. We also make referrals anytime during the pregnancy if a higher level of care is required.”

Wojtko says Choptank Health also provides women’s health services in its School-Based Health Centers, and that its health center patients have access to Spanish and Haitian-Creole language interpreters for further healthcare accessibility.

Choptank Community Health System provides medical, dental, and School-Based health services to more than 30,000 adults and children in Caroline, Dorchester, Kent, Queen Anne’s, and Talbot counties, with a mission to provide access to exceptional, comprehensive, and integrated healthcare for all.

Medical services include primary healthcare, women’s health, pediatrics, behavioral health, chronic health management, laboratory services, and care navigation, with new medical patients now being accepted. More information is at www.choptankhealth.org.
